This dull skin that feels tight, becomes less supple and comfortable: is it dry or dehydrated? The question may seem trivial, however it is important because depending on the answer, you will not take care of your skin in the same way.
The first thing to know is that while dry skin is permanently dry (it is a skin type), dehydrated skin is only transient (and can affect all skin types). However, dry skin and dehydrated skin are a common problem: in both cases the quality of the hydrolipidic film is dull and does not maintain its barrier function.
In the case of dry skin, the sebaceous glands are concerned: they do not produce enough oil. In the case of dehydrated skin, the water contained in the epidermis evaporates too easily due to internal and external factors.
In order to meet the needs of the skin and reduce the associated discomfort, it is necessary to provide care adapted to these fragile skins. And not to make a mistake!

BREAKING IT DOWN
Dry skin or dehydrated skin?
In a clinical level, dry skin and dehydrated skin are very similar. However, it is essential to differentiate them so you can give them the right skincare products, especially during key moments for your skin, such as pregnancy or winter season.
Recognize and take care of dehydrated skin
Dehydrated skin is only temporary and can affect oily skin...just for dry skin! Its main characteristic is that it suppresses water inside the epidermis and maintains a good level of hydration. How do I know? How can I help achieve its balance?
Understanding and taking care of dry skin
Dry skin is the consequence of the dysfunction of sebaceous glands, which cause sebum production that comes into play in constitution of the hydrolipidic film. In short, dry skin is mainly lacking in body oil (and this lack focussed on with age). How to nourish it? How do I care for particularly dry areas of the face, legs or hands?
